Explaining Player Personalities

We're often asked to explain in a bit more detail the different personalities of the players in the game.

Without giving away all the secrets, here are a few pointers that should hopefully give you a bit more information about the various personality types.

Basically the personalities are split into two groups: the red group ("Aggressive", "Temperamental") and the green group ("Hardworking", "Professional", "Quiet"). There's also one other personality type - "Superstar" - but we'll talk about that at the end!

Players with a 'red' personality are more likely to cause issues; for instance getting sent off, or causing trouble on the training ground. Aggressive players may also be more likely to pick up injuries due to their playing style.

'Green' players on the other hand are going to cause less trouble for the manager, and "Quiet" players in particular will be easier to deal with when it comes to contract negotiations.

But it's not always as simple as Red=Bad and Green=Good. For instance if your team is playing a really big game like a cup final, some of the quieter 'green' players might be affected by nerves, while the more aggressive 'red' players might be pumped up and ready for the challenge.

That's why you don't necessarily want a squad made up of 100% 'green' players - a mix of different personalities is always good!

Finally when your team reaches the very top of the game, you might end up with some "Superstar" players in your squad.

These big-name players will help to boost your club's crowds and worldwide popularity, and in turn increase things like merchandise sales.

But Superstar players will want big wages and they can be hard to manage; if they fall out with the boss they'll be quick to demand a transfer.

Too many Superstars in one squad might cause problems, so as before the advice is to try to get the right blend of different personalities in the dressing room!
