Please note that we've recently changed the way that the weekly finances work, so if you're playing version 1.3.8 of the game (or above), this article is no longer relevant. See this blog post for a more recent update.
We're often contacted by people who think they've spotted a bug in the in-game bank balance. They feel like something is wrong because their weekly finances are showing a profit, but their bank balance has just gone down.
This isn't a bug - it's because money comes in and out of your account at different points of the week. The bank balance shown on the summary screen is always your latest, current balance, but the financial report can sometimes feel confusing - see the example below:
Midweek: You have £1000 in the bank.
Weekend: You have a home fixture and make £2000 from gate receipts. Your bank balance is now £3000.
Midweek: Your player wages are paid so your money goes down by £1000. Your bank balance is now £2000. So your weekly statement shows you made a £1000 profit this week, but it feels like your bank balance has just gone down by £1000 (compared to the weekend).
Hopefully that explains why it can sometimes feel like you've lost money, even during a week where you've made a profit.
But if you keep a close eye on all the figures, you'll see that they do add up!
